Teacher Workshops in Cuernavaca

All teachers are welcome in these programs recognized by over 50 school systems in the United States and recommended over the years by ACTFL, AATSP, and many other leading professional organizations. There are advanced sessions for current Spanish teachers; transition sessions for teachers of other languages who are now being asked to teach Spanish; and sessions for non-speakers who want to learn the language and/or want to improve their understanding of the Hispanic cultures.

Up to 6 graduate credits in Spanish and Sociology may be earned, depending on length of study and courses selected.

Among the cultural units available are:
- Mesoamerica in the Classroom focusing on elements of the culture that can be included in classroom activities for a specific group or level - readings, foods, art, history, literature, music, and field study excursions.
- Working with Mexicans: a Workshop for Social Workers, Teachers, Counselors and Other Professionals
- American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese Inside Contemporary Mexico: Mexican Thought and Culture
- Implementing the National Standards for World Language Education

Visiting Speakers include outstanding authorities on Mexico such as Dr. Ross Gandy, Professor of Philosophy & Sociology, National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM); Dr. Sylvia Marcos, visiting professor of Mesoamerican Religions and Gender, School of Religion, Claremont Graduate University; Dr. Nelly Salgado, Director, Community Health and Social Welfare, Mexican National Institute of Public Health, Center for Health Systems Research, Cuernavaca; Marina CastaÒeda, psychotherapist; and Dr. Dan Lund, President and CEO , Mund AmerÌcas and others.
